Long summer days are here. It’s the perfect time of year to invite friends and family over to enjoy backyard BBQs. We’ve got what you need to keep your backyard ready for company all summer long.
Summer Lawn Care
First, start with proper lawn care for the summer months. According to Jacksonville’s City Water Ordinances, during Daylight Savings Time, we are able to water our lawns before 10am or after 4pm. During each cycle, water your lawn with ¾ inch or less. For further details, including days of the week you are able to water based on your address, check the city’s website.
When it’s time to mow your lawn, you want to do so at the highest recommended height. This will allow the height of the grass to provide shade to the runners. In turn, moisture is conserved by slowing evaporation. Remember that fertilizing your lawn is done in the spring. Do not fertilize during the summer.

Backyard DIY Projects
Once you have your lawn care in check, you can further enhance the appeal of your backyard with a DIY project. An Article in Magnolia titled 5 Home Renovation Ideas for Summer offers a few ideas.
Our favorite is the fire pit.
An easy, but magical addition to any backyard gathering. It’s a great focal point for people to gather around, perhaps making smores, sharing drinks and telling tales. If you don’t want to stop at the fire pit, create a walkway with pavers to the fire pit you’ve built! It’s the perfect invitation to a fun and relaxing evening.
