The Ponte Vedra Inn & Club is undergoing a significant renovation, with one major phase about to begin.
The luxury resort in St. Johns County first announced its renovation plans in August 2023, receiving county approval later that year.
One of the key aspects of the project is the construction of a new Surf Club. On Thursday, the county approved a permit for the $44.5 million facility. According to official records, the new building, located at 261 Ponte Vedra Blvd., will span 94,343 square feet. The project is being handled by Brasfield & Gorrie LLC, a contractor based in Birmingham, Alabama.
When the plans were initially revealed, the Surf Club was set to include additional guest rooms. With these additions, the Inn & Club—currently featuring 261 rooms—could expand to a maximum of 349 rooms. Beyond the Surf Club renovation, a new Sports Club is also planned, featuring tennis courts and a lap pool.
Future phases of the project will bring further upgrades, including improvements to the Ponte Vedra Lodge & Club. Over the course of five construction phases, which could span up to 25 years, the Inn & Club may add around 100,000 square feet of resort space and 68 rooms, while the Lodge & Club could see an expansion of approximately 35,000 square feet and 20 additional rooms.
In 2023, a $1.5 million permit was granted for renovations to the first floor of the Atlantic House, part of the Gate-owned property.
