Coming to Jax!

Coming to Jax!

Jacksonville is booming.  We’ve written about it many times.  It’s exciting.

From new restaurants, concert venues and greenways to arts and culture projects.  There is so much new coming to Jax!

Decca Live

Downtown Jacksonville is getting a new concert venue this fall: Decca Live.

The project has been in the works for over a decade! It’s sure to be spectacular.

The two-story, live music venue will feature a rooftop bar and lounge. Additionally, views of the river and Jacksonville’s skyline.   We can’t wait to check it out.

PHXJAX

The Phoenix Arts & Innovation District (PHXJAX)  just received good news.

Future of Cities, a Miami-based developer, received unanimous approval from the Jacksonville City Council for a $5.5 million incentive package. These funds will be used to further develop PHXJAX as a “regenerative placemaking project” according to Morningstar’s article.  PHXJAX will feature offices, artist studios, galleries, retail, restaurants, an outdoor market and public greenspace.

The Morningstar article also quoted Donna Deegan, City of Jacksonville Mayor, as saying: “Once completed, it will serve as a destination of culture and creativity for all people of Jacksonville to enjoy.”

Emerald Trail

Groundwork Jacksonville, established in 2014, is the city’s nonprofit partner in building the Emerald Trail.

The vision for the Emerald Trail is for over “30 miles of trails, greenways and parks that encircle the urban core and link at least 14 historic neighborhoods to downtown, Hogans Creek, McCoys Creek and the St. Johns River”.

The Emerald Trail is in progress and projected to be complete by 2030.

A July article of the Jacksonville Business Journal reported that Groundwork Jacksonville received a $1 million grant.  These funds will be used on the design of the third segment of the Emerald Trail, the Riverside Link.

New Restaurants

The Jacksonville Business Journal also wrote an article about some casual dining options that are new on the scene.

Some of these new businesses include: Cup of Job, Graze Craze, Huey Magoos and Jersey Mikes

Places to look out for that are coming soon: Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls and Rush Bowls.
